Macrobacteria

Macrobacteria are enormous, macroscopic bacteria. They come in billions of varieties, although in most varieties they are pickle-shaped with a single, long flagella used for movement and offensive purposes in certain scenarios. They survive off of pure instinct, although their intelligence is several magnitudes higher than their microscopic counterparts.

They are hunted naturally by Macoviruses, although some sapient beings in the Prime Material Plane have been known to kill and even consume the matter of Macrobacteria.

Macrovirus

Macrovirus are enormous viruses. They come in hundreds of varieties, and their goal is to infect Macrobacteria in similar nature to microscopic viruses. Their origins are unknown, however they appear to have originated from ancient macroviroplasm currents.

Like microscopic viruses, it is heavily debated as to whether or not these “organisms” are truly alive or dead. Because of this, their place in the Species category could be debated, although for the sake of Archivist classification, they will be put in the category.

Aeromacrovirus

Aeromacrovirus are enormous levitating viruses. They come in hundreds of varieties, and their goal is to infect Aeromacrobacteria in similar nature to microscopic viruses.

Brainways

The Brainways are a three mile layer of brain tissue directly below the surface of the Prime Material Plane. Highly dangerous, they crackle with neuroelectricity and in some parts crumble into dust from neurodegenerative rot. Of course, what could be seen as a simple barrier to more easy access caverns in Tenebrosus or beyond, was exploited by the Syndicate.

As the name implies, the Brainways have been turned into a tunnel network and are now used as the predominant mode of travel in the empire. To harness the locomotive power of the Brainways, one must find a way to create tunnels which do not collapse or become sealed with scar tissue.

To do this, the mighty N’nosk has physically modified Naegleria Fowerli specimen into a long, train-like organism. These organisms can store travelers in hollows in its cytoplasm, and eat through the constantly healing tunnels to reach every passenger unloading/reloading station.

Mask

Masks are a type of magical item worn to enhance, or create, magical abilities in the user. They are worn across the face, completely concealing it. They are impossible to take off, which means that choosing the appearance of your Mask is paramount.

They are created from Shadebone, a material created by mixing pulverized bone dust with Umbra or Radiance.

Description

Masks are usually plain white or black, depending on if they are Umbral or Radiant in nature. They usually have two to eight eye holes, which are usually perfect circles or quite close. They will cover the head entirely, especially the face. Some may have horns, spines, or protrusions, while others are simple plates with eyeholes.

Masks lack mouth holes.

Eye of God

The Eye of God is a vast portal which leads from the Lower Heaven (Empyrean) to the High Heaven (Jannah). It is guarded by an enormous Ophanim known as Wepset, which only allows beings native to the High Heaven, or “Pure of Heart” (a largely biased judgement based on if Wepset likes you or not) to travel using this rift. It is the only form of travel between the Lower and High Heavens.

Description

The Eye of God resembles an enormous, swirling, vortex of light. It is usually shielded on all sides by the wings of Wepset, who only furls his wings to allow the worthy to pass through.

Empyrean

The Empryean (Angelic for Lower Heaven) is the home and birthplace of Radiance and radiant organisms. It is characterized by bright lights, enormous levitating crucifixes which make up terrestrial land, and glowing “Heavenly pentagrams” projected into the sky. Its many inhabitants include Lesser Angels, like Ophanims and Heavensnakes, among other lesser radiant organisms.

Umbral and Demonic organisms cannot survive in the Empryean simply because of the extremely toxic concentration of Radiance. This concentration blinds most non-native lifeforms, forcing non-radiant beings inhabiting the Empryean to cower in caves or simply lose ocular function entirely.

Description

The Lower Empryean is blindingly bright, there are no dark regions. Even the rare caverns are illuminated by the exterior light. This light radiates from a veil of clouds that separates the Empryean from High Heaven.

Terrestrial ground consists of enormous floating stone crucifix structures. Among these islands are also completely spherical balls, which project energy into the Eye of God to fuel it.

Heavensnake

Heavensnakes are radiant, hypercarnivorous omnivores native to the Empryean. They resemble ophidians of many kinds with angelic, white feathered wings. They are 15 ft feet in length, and use their size to assist in constriction, their primary method of killing prey organisms.

While their appearance demonstrates characteristics of a biological organism, they are purely radiant.

Magic

Magic is the application, manipulation, and creation of energy using some sort of magically active biological or inorganic structure. For example, one of these structures could be some sort of organ which can control Umbra, as this organ can control, manipulate, and create energy, this is classified as a magical organ.

Organisms or structures that can control magic, or are heavily involved in its use, are known as “Magical”.

Application

Magic can be applied to the Prime Material Plane with multiple different inorganic or biological structures. These are predominantly staffs, wands, biological organs, and most commonly Masks. Magic is common, as it in simple terms is just the creation and manipulation of a type of energy. As such, in some ways manipulating kinetic energy with technology, or just locomotion appendages could be considered magic on a technicality.

Ophanim

Ophanims are radiant predatory organisms which use auditory mimicry to lure and consume prey organisms. They are created when Radiance fuses with the stone obelisks found around the Empryean. Which they also happen to inhabit. Because of this, their primary locomotion method is levitating via Radiant energy.

Appearance

They resemble large globular human eyes encased in orbiting stone wheels, which are denticulated and covered in eyes. They also have hundreds of angelic wings sprouting from these wheels, which although useless aerodynamically, harness Radiance to levitate.

Hunting Methods

To hunt, Ophanims will enthrall a town or small community in the lower Prime Material Plane. The Ophanim will use its ability to mimic the human voice and claim that it is God, or something else in line with the religious beliefs of the town or community it intends to enthrall. Usually, to do this it has to closely watch and observe the religious practices of the intended community or town. Once the town is enthralled, it will demand sacrifices. It consumes those sacrificed before promising a “Day of Salvation”.

This day of salvation is actually a mass consumption event. Once all remaining townsfolk begin the ritual, the Ophanim will return and begin the event. It will deploy multiple tentacles of pure radiant energy to consume the flesh and souls of the remaining townsfolk, damning them to nonexistence.
