Garloids are a species of vermiform organism who produce a nutritious and sweet waste product after eating known as Garloid Milk. Their milk is highly coveted because it can substitute full meals long enough for real food to be purchased or imported. While their genome is well documented, their origins as a species are completely unknown. This possibly implies outside interference, or that their survival as a species was artificial in origin.
The average Garloid is about twenty two feet in length, and five centimeters in diameter. They resemble the large intestine of Homo Sapiens. Garloids completely lack a complex digestive system, instead having a single straight intestine designed to absorb nutrients from the water they consume. The mouth of a Garloid is more or less a sphincter, which closes or opens depending on whether or not the creature is feeding.
Garloid pigmentation varies between rusty brown to crimson. Garloids may also appear in white or albino coloration, and even in jet black. Although in folklore black Garloids are considered bad luck, there is no scientific evidence that they cause bad luck or that their milk is hostile to biological organisms. The color of some Garloids matches their original home environment.
Garloids possess a single linear track digestive system, in which water is processed and bio-reassembled into the chemicals required for survival. Garloids rarely need to truly feed. As, they can sustain on pure water for years at a time.
While Garloids are aquatic in nature, they can move on terrestrial ground through undulation. They also swim in a seemingly similar manner.
Following Data Log entails the biology of an organism simply known as the Wretch.
The creature is aberrated, possibly Umbral. It appears to be formed from a commingled assemblage of malformed cadavers. While the back and limbs are the most demonstrative of this, the head is relatively “normal”. Comparatively far less aberrated than the other bodily locations.
The Wretch is approximately nine feet in height, with limbs either disproportionate or proportionate to it depending on their location and purpose. These limbs as mentioned above are almost always consisted of human bodies or body parts. In the top left arm specifically, where normal human cadavers are too large to make up the bulk of the arm without it being cumbersome. Infant cadavers are used, predominantly melded into shape, a few of their limbs do jut out. The hand is large, and in of itself is made from a commingled mass of human and cimexian hands.
As demanded by the Benefactors, the rest of this document will be purged. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
As of █/██/████ we have made a large advancement in extradimensional translocation technology. With the assistance of our allies in the Biotechnology Department, we have created a living bio-transdimensional relocater. We call them Gates.
These Gates are rapidly increasing in size and bio-matter. They are also toxic to life not native to the Prime Material Plane. They allow easy access in and out of other dimensions, and can easily be produced. These Gates will allow the Empire to invade other dimensions and possibly assimilate them. Our attempts at using artificial technology have been scrapped. All new technologies used will be biological in nature.
The Gates can pinpoint the location of other dimensional planes via extradimensional “Tendrils” of sort. They can then violently tear open another Gate in that dimension, allowing the Empire’s troops to rapidly advance into the dimension. Hopefully, this technology is put to good use.
On █/█/██ the Empire has decided to add Interview-7786456474 to the Database. While its authenticity is debatable, it is still an important link to other Interviews. The contents of the Interview will be explained below. The identities of the Interviewer and the Interviewed will be hidden for the sake of the former’s protection.
Interviewer: Do you know why you are here, ███?
Interviewed: Of course sir, I was called into to talk about the Monster.
Interviewer: That is correct, can you describe your encounter with this organism.
Interviewed: I was outside my town huntin’, when I heard this.. horrible noise.
Interviewer: Can you describe this noise?
There is a discernible pause between response time. Although it is unlikely to be directly associated with the encounter outside of emotional damage.
Interviewed: It was like.. a growling.
Interviewer: A growl?
Interviewed: Yes, very guttural, almost.. alien.
Interviewed: Yes… and there was this wailin’ too. Coming from the voices of children.. women.. men.. infants. They were from the same source as the growlin’ too!
Interviewer: What happened after you heard this growling?
Interviewed: I felt this terrible feeling of dread. Nothin’ like it really, and I saw something in the corner of my eye. It was deformed, and decrepit. It was like I wanted to leave, but I couldn’t. It was frozen with fear.. completely.
The heart rate of the Interviewed rapidly increased at this point, as shown by the monitoring systems in the room. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is evident.
Interviewer: Can we skip ahead to the encounter. I would like to hear a description of its appearance.
Interviewed: I can go right ahead and talk about the Monster if you wish.
Interviewed: Long story short, I.. I uhh… was chased by the thing. I got to see it in full.
Interviewer: Can you describe this thing in as much detail as you can?
Interviewed: It was like a mountain of bodies, grafted to each other. Some of the limbs pokin’ out were wrapped to the body with twine.. like cargo on a donkey. It didn’t have legs either.. it slithered on a pillar of pitch black fog. A whole bunch of twisted things came from the shadow too, hands… bodies… claws… mouths.
Interviewer: Can you describe the head and limbs?
Interviewed: Yessir.. uhh.. the left hand was made from a bunch of.. of… babies.
Interviewed: Yes.. yes! Babies.. baby.. corpses, all melted together.. limbs and heads sticking out and everything. I think a few grown-up arms were stuck in that tangle too. The head.. oh god the head…
The hand is not thoroughly described, although another description describes the hand as “ogre-like, giant, and decorated with twelve malformed digits. The entire thing was hideously connected to the arm, and the hand seemed to be made from commingled human hands,”. The other hand is also not described.
Interviewer: Can you describe the head, please.
Interviewed: It was.. oh god it was.. so.. so.. so bad! I can’t even describe it, uhh. uhh..
Heart rate of the Interviewed increases to an almost paranormal speed. The creature appears to have some sort of effect on heart rate and fear in general. This possibly implies that this organism is Fogborn, or Umbral in origin.
Severe file corruption prevents us from accessing the rest of the Interview.
CAUSE OF DEATH: N/A
The organs appear to have been completely charred before his death. Blood was superheated to the point of evaporation, explaining the red smoke exiting through the orifices. The facial pores have expanded to the point of tearing the face apart. The heart has turned black from some sort of pollutant, and it appears to have gave way first. The brain is utterly charred, and heavily infused with a black liquid, possibly Umbra.
The Shugnahoth is the ensignia, and symbol of the Empire. It is as early as the Empire itself, and was said to have been carved into the flesh of the Emperor as a divine message that he would unite the Prime Material Plane under this banner.
The Shugnahoth is as early as the Empire’s founding. N’nosk, the Emperor, declared that the entirety of the Prime Material Plane would be united under the symbol carved into his flesh. That symbol was the Shugnahoth.
Schnellekabine are a type of transportation method rarely used. They are the mechanical variant of the Brainways, although they have far more locomotive and architectural restrictions. Despite this, they are the primary mode of travel for organisms of the Higher Caste.
Schnellekabine consist of many interlocking cabs, which sit upon the backs of large millipedes. These millipedes run at high pace on tracks, which are magnetized poles which connect to the legs of these millipedes via magnetism. They are usually elevated hundreds of feet into the air by pillars, although in some lesser Schnellekabine railroad lines, they are directly in contact with the ground. These tracks are known as Railroads.
They connect all points of interest for the Higher Caste, ie government buildings and the like. They are usually gilded with glistening metals, and highly decorated with symbols of Power. Although some are dull and plane, made of simple and angular metals.
The largest Schnellekabine station begins at Vespiary, and charges thousands of miles into the Outer Reaches. It is heavily defended, and drab in appearance. Being made of dull grey metal in angular architecture. Although its purpose is heavily safeguarded, some suspect it leads to the Emperor’s palace or some other hallowed ground.
The Outer Reaches are the vast expanse beyond the known portions of the Prime Material Plane. Here, the normally sarcous living ground transitions into hard rock or fossil, and what is beyond is completely unknown. Despite this apparent aura of mystery around the Outer Reaches, there is a single railroad line that leads into the great beyond. It is suspected that this station leads to the Emperor’s castle.
The Outer Reaches are extremely enigmatic, however what is known is that they are separated from the known world by their lack of biomatter. While the Inner Reaches are made from living flesh and bone, the Outer Reaches are made from dead rock and fossil. Even Tenebrosus ceases at the Outer Reaches no matter the depth one dives.
Although it is highly possible that the land of the Outer Reaches is just as myriad and diverse as the Inner Reaches, most landscape consists of jagged cliffs, decaying Cimexian shells, and howling cliffs. There appears to be some form of sand covering the Outer Reaches, resembling grey snow in some accounts.
While fossils and desiccated cadavers are abundant, possibly implying the existence of some form of civilization. There is no evidence of the existence of infrastructure, in ruined or intact form. The only semblance of infrastructure appears to be a single railroad line which stabs thousands of miles into the great beyond of the Outer Reaches. Some suspect that this line leads to the Emperor’s castle, or some other hallowed ground.
The Floppaths are a network of glass tubes which are navigated by giant fire breathing mutants of the genus caracal caracal. While the Brainways, among other transportation lines, are far more popular, the Floppaths are arguably the safest. Especially with their high speed of four hundred miles per hour.
Suspended high above the ground by scaffolding are glass tubes fifteen feet in diameter. The flooring of which is a rapidly moving conveyor belt, which in tandem with the beings running on it, makes this mode of travel extremely efficient. When in a large network, this creates the Floppaths.
The Floppaths are a network of stations, and aforementioned tubes. Traversing these tubes are enormous, fire breathing mutants of the species caracal caracal. These caracals are equipped with multi-seat saddles, and when mounted will run at high speeds in tandem with the conveyor floor to arrive at the next station in record time.
Each station is entered and exited via elevator, and is usually placed at important points of interest. They act as homes for caracals currently not working, and also as resting zones and travel points for travelers.
A wheel is a circular component that is designed to rotate on an axle bearing. In unison with axles, wheels allow heavy objects to be moved with ease. Which facilitates movement/transportation while supported a load, or performing labor in/on machines. Wheels are also used for other purposes, such as steering wheels.
Wheels are as early as civilization itself. They were invented by small villages and tribes who needed to transport wagons and cargo long distances in scenarios where it was inefficient to carry by hand. The first wheels were largely just solid wood, or stone. However, eventually they became metal and far more easily produced.
With the rise of the Empire, tires were created, and are almost always used in tandem with wheels.
